Cabbage Vadai

Cabbage Vadai is also my mom's special. Every time I make vadai, I miss my mom. She is no.1 in it. Hope you guys like it.


Ingredients:

  • Urad dal - 1 cup
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Curry leaves
  • Cabbage Chopped - 1
  • Green chilly - 2
  • Oil

Method:

  • Soak urad dal for an hour. Grind it using little water.Make it fluffy.
  • Add the chopped cabbage,green chillies, salt and curry leaves.
  • Heat oil in a pan, make yummy vadas out of the flour.
  • Crispy vadas Ready .

Cabbage Usili / Gose usili

Cabbage usili is a yummy stir fry. I love this dish. Its my mom's recipe.



Ingredients:


  • Cabbage - 200 gms
  • Onion - 1 chopped
  • Toor dal - 1/2 cup
  • Gram dal - 1/4 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Red chilly - 3-4
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • Urad dal

Method:

  • Chop the cabbage into small pieces. Heat water in a vessel , add the turmeric powder  and chopped cabbage to it. Drain the cabbage and keep aside.
  • Wash and soak toor dal and gram dal.
  • Grind it coarsely with red chillies.
  • Heat oil in a pan, temper mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.
  • add the chopped onions, fry the well. 
  • Add the ground dal mixture and salt. Allow it to cook. Stir occasionally.
  • When it is done, add the cabbage to it , add salt required for cabbage and stir well.
  • Cook for 5 mins.

Channa pulao

Channa Pulao is very nutritious. its a very simple dish to make..





Ingredients:

  • Channa - 1 cup
  • Basmathi Rice - 1 cup
  • Onion -1 big
  • Tomato - 2
  • Green Chilly - 3
  • Curd - 3 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 11/2 tsp
  • Cloves- 4
  • Cinnamon - 2 - 3 pieces
  • Cardamom - 4
  • Bay leaf - 2
  • Chilly powder - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Oil

Method:

  • Soak the channa overnight.
  • In a Cooker , add oil , temper all the spices.
  • Add green chillies, onion together and fry it till brown.
  • Add ginger garlic paste. Then tomatoes. Stir well.
  • Add Chilly powder and channa.
  • Later on add curd and stir it for about 10 mins
  • Add salt and rice.
  • Keep for three whistles.
  • Garnish with Coriander leaves.

Snake gourd Rings


My mom used to do this snake gourd rings which we all love it anytime. Have a try.




Ingredients:

  • Snake gourd -1 cut into round thin rings
  • Besan flour - 1 cup
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoedita


Method:


  • Mix besan flour , salt, asafoedita and chilly powder. Mix it into a thick batter using water.
  • Heat oil in a pan, Dip these snake gourd rings into the batter and put it in the hot oil.
  • Deep fry and drain it.




Simple and yummy starter !

Cabbage omlette

Cabbage omlette tastes really nice. its more healthy as it contains eggs and cabbage.try it out.

Ingredients:

  • Cabbage chopped - 1 cup
  • Green chilly - 1
  • Oil
  • Mustard seeds.
  • Turmeric powder
  • Eggs -2
  • Salt



Method:

  • In a pan, add little oil. temper mustard seeds, curry leaves and green chilly.
  • Add cabbage, salt and little water. Allow the cabbage to boil and cook for sometime.
  • When it is done. Remove it.
  • In a bowl, add the eggs, salt needed for eggs and the cabbage mixture.
  • Add little turmeric powder. stir well.
  • Heat tava, pour the mixture, add oil and cook it to a omlette.
  • Cook on both sides.  Serve hot.

Curd rice / Thayir sadham

Curd rice is the most easiest, tastiest, simplest rice. Its of course very good for health. It cools down our body heat. There are different side dishes thats makes more perfect match for curd rice. Some of it are Potato, raw banana, Yam, pickle (any variety). I love lemon pickle. especially when it comes to tiffin box, any doesnt know how to mix it. I love Thaalicha thayir sadham.



Ingredients:


  • Rice - 1 cup cooked
  • Curd - required
  • Milk - 2-3 tbsp
  • Salt - if required

To temper:


  • Oil
  • Mustard seeds
  • Urad dal
  • Green chilly - 1 chopped
  • Ginger - small piece grated
  • Curry leaves
  • Asafoedita

Method:


  • In a bowl, mix rice, curd, milk and salt together. check the salt.
  • In a small pan, add oil and temper all the above ingredients one by one and mix it with the rice.
  •  Perfect for lunch box. I have served with Instant Mango pickle.
