Karamani Sundal / Blackeyed peas Sundal

Sundalmania is going on... Most healthiest dish. Rich in proteins. A wonderful snack.


  • Karamani / Blackeyed peas - 1 cup
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Oil
  • Mustard seeds
  • Urad dal
  • Curry leaves
  • Hing
  • Coriander curry podi - 2 -3 tsp - recipe here


  • Soak karamani in water overnight or even for 6 hrs.
  • In a vessel, add the soaked karamani , add water and salt.
  • Boil it for 15 mins. Till it becomes soft and not mushy. Drain it.
  • Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves.
  • Add hing to it.Add the boiled karamani.
  • Sprinkle the coriander curry podi over it and stir for a couple of mins. The coriander curry podi gives a wonderful aroma and taste.
