Cucumber Kosambari

Kosambari is a traditional dish in Karnataka and they make this dish on every festive occasion.


  • Cucumber - 1 chopped finely
  • Moong dal - 1/4 cup soaked
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Grated coconut - 2 tsp
  • Salt
  • Lemon juice
  • Coriander leaves

To temper:

  • Oil
  • Mustard seeds
  • Urad dal
  • Red chilly - 2 broken
  • Asafoedita
  • Curry leaves


  • Mix all the above ingredients in a bowl.
  • Temper the "to temper" ingredients.
  • Add salt to it before serving.

Serve it like a salad with `rice.
