Stuffed Brinjal/ Enna Kathrika

Suffed Brinjal is a yummy dish to be served with rice as well as roti. Its a dry side dish. It goes well with sambar rice, curd rice.


  • Brinjals - 10 small size
  • Coriander curry podi - 2 tsp
  • Sambar powder - 2-3 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoedita
  • Salt
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil
  • Mustard seeds
  • Tamarind juice - 4-5 tsp


  • Wash and remove the stem of brinjal.
  • Slit them into 4 parts upto 3/4th without breaking the brinjal.
  • Mix coriander curry podi , sambar powder, turmeric powder,salt and asafoedita.
  • add tamarind juice to it and make it into a paste.
  • Split the slit brinjal and apply it in between and keep it aside for some time.

  • Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  • Put the brinjals to it and cook in simmer for 10 mins. Occasionally turn it around and stir well.
  • Dont allow it for too long, it may burn as we dont add water to it. 
  • Wonderful stuffed brinjal is ready.
