Moong dal sambar/ Idly sambar

One of the most easiest and delicious sambar.. In my home, we all love this sambar. We dont eat idly as such. We mix it like rice with sambar and eat.Smash the idly, pour the sambar.. Slurp it...


  • Moong dal - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1
  • Tomato - 1
  • Garlic - 5
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds -1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilly - 1
  • Red chillly -2
  • Water
  • Oil
  • Coriander leaves
  • In a vessel, add moong dal, chopped onions,chopped tomato,chopped green chilly,garlic, turmeric powder. Add water and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.
  • Smash it well.
  • Temper with mustard seeds,urad dal and red chilly and curry leaves.
Garnis h with coriander leaves.
Idly sambar is now ready.
