Poondu rasam - mom's recipe

Ingredients:

  • Tamarind - lemon size
  • Tomato - 1/2
  • Cumin seeds- 1/4 tsp
  • Pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • Red Chilly - 2
  • Garlic - 5
  • Curry leaves
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Water

Method:

  • In a vessel, mix tamarind extract with water, tomato,turmeric powder,salt and coriander leaves and salt.
  • Grind cumin seeds,pepper, garlic ,red chillies and curry leaves coarsely.
  • In a vessel, mix tamarind extract with water, tomato,turmeric powder,salt and coriander leaves and salt.
  • Heat a tsp of oil, season mustard seeds, ground powder with the tamarind water.
  • Allow it to boil. Switch it off once it starts to boil.
